Some new gigs coming up! I'll be posting more information in a couple of weeks, but it looks like May is going to be an excellent month. With a successful Alley Katz show, and Relay for Life and the Collegiate Battle of the Bands coming up, this month is shaping up to be one for the books....
We just won our school's talent night, thanks to all who came and showed support...It was great to play "Intrepid Traveler" without a string breaking. Thanks to the judges, and to all of the other acts and stage crew for making it the BEST TALENT NIGHT EVER! We won a trophy made out of popcorn...It's starting to rot.
Be sure to scroll down for some beautiful poetry.
We were recently featured on the "Almost Famous" band contest CD. This album, which features songs by 15 local artists, contains the legendary Dandy Otto original "Steal My Brain."
HUGE NEWS: Dandy Otto now has a webpage at mp3.com, so now our music can be heard from any spot on the globe....We've also got summaries of the songs that shine a little light into the meanings of the songs...click here to go to it at http://www.mp3.com/DandyOttoBand
SLIGHTLY OLD NEWS: There's a page for pictures, songs, and setlists so click here
We also now have a CD...It's got a tranced out rock song, a little funk, a little blues, a little acoustic rock, a little freakiness, a little latin vibe.... here's the tracks: 1. Rearview Mirror/Escape (10:36) 2. Up and Down (7:24)---> 3. Steal My Brain (5:49) 4. Down This Road (4:35) 5. Blues So Funky (4:43) 6. Callin Out My Name (7:14)

We are Dandy Otto, a band from Richmond, VA that makes good music. The band spawned in 1999 as an attempt to make very loud noise in a suburban basement. This noise got louder and slightly more centralized, and became significantly more musical in April of 2000 when the regular lineup began. Currently, we have an even more updated lineup. This includes: Matt Gabriel (piano, organ), Tommy Siegel (lead guitar, lead vocals, paper towel tubes), Declan Gould (backup vocals, bass guitar), Adam Moore (congas, bongos, guitar, backup vocals), and Andrew Laubacher (drums, other percussion).
Throughout that summer we spent a large amount of time sharpening our covers and creating original music. We began playing for the public that fall, our first gig at a pool party. Since then, we've played at talent nights (the most recent one we won), parties, and we've had a series of monthly gigs at the Three Chopt Sports Grill since December, some of which have attracted over 100 people. We've just played the Canal Club, the Innsbrook Pavillion, Alley Katz, and we just recorded a full-length CD at OSO studios (a few tracks can be heard at http://www.mp3.com/dandyottoband.)
What is our music? It's delicious mix of rock, funk, jazz, bluegrass, blues, and whatever else seems appropriate (or non-appropriate, whichever the case) We like to have an improvisational spirit at our shows, and we make sure that every show is different...collect them all.
Want us to play somewhere? Contact Tommy Siegel at (804) 673-9362 or email Siegel4@erols.com for booking...We'll play most anywhere...Be sure to sign the guestbook! |
